On Saturday, August 5, 2017, more than 350 Delaware youth, ages 13-18, will participate in the Teen Summit, held at the Chase Center on the Riverfront. The 10th Annual Teen Summit is presented by the Delaware Prevention Coalition (DPC), a voluntary network of individuals and organizations working together to create safe, healthy, drug-free communities. The Delaware Prevention Coalition accomplishes its mission by implementing evidenced-based substance abuse prevention curricula and activities in schools as well as in faith-based and community-based organizations.
The Summit, a statewide prevention activity engaging hundreds of youth, is a forum in which youth and their families (parents/guardians) address issues facing today’s teens. Youth participate in interactive workshops facilitated by their peers on topics such as underage drinking, prescription drug abuse, dating and relationships, leadership and other sessions which promote critical thinking skills and positive self-esteem. The Summit provides teens a voice to articulate these issues in their community and with their peers.
Please join us in our efforts to be an agent of change in our communities!
